2015 Native Heritage Weekend

November 7th and 8th the Fort at No. 4 will be hosting its annual Native Heritage Weekend.  This year joining the activities Saturday morning will be the Voice of the Koas, and Sunday afternoon Master Diver Annette Spaulding will speak to petroglyphs in the Connecticut.

Voices of the Koas is an all-female singing group whose members are drawn from the Koasek Band of the Koas Abenaki Peoples.  The Voices of the Koas using hand drums and rattles and by singing traditional songs inform visitors about the peoples who lived in the Upper Valley of the Connecticut River. On Sunday afternoon Annette Spaulding will join at the Fort to discuss her amazing find of the once lost petroglyphs of the Connecticut.  Spaulding, who is a master diver, frequently assists in water related search and recovery as well as underwater archaeology, will take a look at her 30 year search for petroglyph and what led to their rediscovery.
